Grêmio F.B.P.A. Academy

Grêmio F.B.P.A. Academy is the youth academy of Brazilian football club Grêmio Foot-Ball Porto Alegrense. It has been noted for having one of the most successful youth development programmes in Latin America. This is surmised by their discovery of talented players which have gone on to play professionally and abroad, including Ronaldinho, who won the FIFA Ballon d'Or twice in a row.
The first reserve team of the club are the under-20s, also called the junior team, which compete in the top Brazilian youth league, Campeonato Brasileiro Sub-20, and have won the title on two occasions. It also has numerous lower categories, with the most relevant two being the under-19s and under-17s. All youth teams play their games in CT Hélio Dourado, a special-purpose stadium designated for the academy.
==Under-20s==
Largest category of Grêmio academy, the under-20s, also called the Junior team, is responsible for hosting the club's major signings arriving at the final stages of preparing to become professionals players. It has great tradition in achievements of titles, having already been a world champion in 2001 winning the FIFA Youth Cup, defeating the Grasshoppers by 3-0 in the final. Yet came close to winning his second title in the competition the following year, in 2002, but was defeated in the final by Boca Juniors. Usually represent the first team squad of the club in professional minor competitions, such as Copa FGF.
In 2014 season, the Under-20s squad plays the Copa do Brasil Sub-20, the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior, the Campeonato Gaúcho Sub-20, and the minor professional competition Copa Sul-Fronteira, because the first team squad has no timetable for playing it. In January, the club played the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior, but was eliminated in the first round of competition. The Campeonato Gaúcho Sub-20 was played in the first half of the year, with the Grêmio arriving for the finals to face the São José-RS, however, the final two matches have not been played by legal disputes between São José-RS and Internacional, who played in the semifinals. The Copa Sul-Fronteira and the Copa do Brasil Sub-20 are being played in the second half of the year.
